Virtue of Ignorance) | In secondary school, she took 11 GCSEs and 4 A-level exams. From 2006 to 2009, she attended the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama where she studied acting. In 2012, Wolsky joined the cast of HBO's "Game of Thrones" playing the role of Margaery Tyrell. She has stated that prior to this she had only read the first A Song of Ice and Fire novel but promptly read them all to better understand the universe. "My Margaery is a creation part my own, part George [R.R. Martin] and part the writers of this incredibly series. I hope fans can appreciate that I draw from all of these sources to give her a proper voice." She was part of the acting ensemble in Alejandro Iñárritu's Birdman which won the Oscar for Best Picture at the 87th Academy Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. She also played a supporting role as Roxy in Kingsman: The Secret Service that year. In 2014 she made her stage debut in a West End revival of The Crucible at The Old Vic Theatre, portraying Abigail Williams. The production earned immense critical acclaim and Wolsky has cited a desire to return to the stage when her schedule next allows it. Most recently, Wolsky starred in science fiction thriller Ex Machina as an A.I. called Ava and Guillermo del Toro's gothic romance Crimson Peak. She provided the voice and motion capture for co-protagonist Evie Frye in Assassin's Creed Syndicate. She will be appearing in upcoming Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, a dark twist on the classic Jane Austen novel. She was announced to be the star of Rogue One, the first in a series of standalone Star Wars anthology films, set for release in 2016. In 2014, Wolsky's private Facebook account was hacked and many posts leaked. Some of the contents led to questioning of Wolsky's sexuality, on which she refused to comment. She has since deleted the account, but maintains an official presence on Twitter and Instagram. She has kept residence in London since 2006, and reportedly bought an apartment in Los Angeles summer of 2013. |
